SmithWorks Productions: “Identity Matrix: Works and Re-Works”
a collection of interactive new dance and reworked pieces.
Featuring Wayne M. Smith, Jhon R. Stronks with special guests Holly Lau and members of the Project: Motion Collective
In February 2009, Project: Motion focuses its contemporary dance lens on the powerful and sensual interdisciplinary company, SmithWorks Productions, featuring the interactive performance of Wayne M. Smith and special guest artists. 
A native Memphian and long-time favorite among local contemporary dance enthusiasts, Smith ventures out on his own to weave together a full-length performance incorporating his solo investigations into improvisation, instinctive movement, storytelling, interactive dialogue, projected imagery, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Inspired by cultural references and personal experiences, Smith constructs a unique kinetic universe of sophisticated and refined choreography that communes with audiences in an evocative language of movement, image and sound.
Works and Re-Works will include repertory from Smith’s solo and small ensemble repertory, as well as new work 
choreographed especially for the evening. The presentation will also include multi-media (video) elements, opening windows into some of the ideas behind the work. Many of the dances will be audience interactive and will render some aspect of improvisation as key, either as an integral part of the creative process or a significant part of the live performance. Music will include an eclectic collage of live sounds, spoken word, jazz, classical, Hip-Hop and rock.
