Project: Motion continues to deepen the presence of modern dance in Memphis with its latest installment of The Emerge Series. 
Emerge 2: Set in Motion releases the artistry of seven emerging choreographers in a showcase of new dance and performance works by local artists. Powered by an irrepressible desire to create and present new dance, these fresh and driven dancemakers (also lawyers, therapists, and teachers by profession) configure works from 
various studies of underlying rhythms, spatial and human relationships, personal inquiry, delicate gesture and the harnessing of raw energy. As a result, their ideas, questions, and passions take shape and emerge, reaching the surface in this eclectic swirl of contemporary dance.
*The Emerge Series was created by Project: Motion in 2006 to serve as a platform for local emerging choreographers to develop and showcase their first public presentations of contemporary dance in a supportive and professional environment. Designed to encourage dance artists to explore and try out new ideas, Emerge offers several enrichment workshops that stimulate the individual’s creative process, initiates artistic dialogue between new and established artists through mentoring partnerships, and provides rehearsal space, along with quality technical and design support. In addition, The Emerge Series embraces diverse artistic visions, recognizes the importance of increased artist exposure, and continues to expand awareness and appreciation for contemporary dance in the local community and beyond.
